Voicethread is yet another cool Web 2.0 tool that gives the user the convenience of anywhere the web is available. This tool is similar to Windows MovieMaker and iMovie, but it does not have the bells and whistles of the aforementioned applications. However it does allow the user to work on their Voicethread outside of class on any machine.
I like this tool for student use. I could imagine a project using this tool where a student or team found educational pictures or took some pictures and explained each picture in their Voicethread. In addition to the explanation, the tool is embeddable and can be placed in a site like a Wikispace or any website to accumulate more traffic.
I really do not see this tool being used as a teacher tool so much as a student tool. I guess a teacher could use it to create a presentation or record a lecture that he or she would want to embed into their website for student review. That would be a load of extra work, but could be beneficial for absent or distance learning students.
