On July 15th and 16th, I worked with two co-workers and our director of instructional technology to generate technology curriculum for a new elementary technology program being implemented in K-6 education at our district. The new program will expose our students to a total of 24 weeks of computer skill development each year from grades K-6th. We selected and adapted current and possible technological tools that could be utilized by the elementary technology teachers and their pedagogies. All of the guidelines and curriculum standards are outlined in our table. The curricular resources work for all staff at our districts and many provide a collaborative aspect. The curriculum we wrote utilizes software, applications, and learning tools that are already existent within the district. The director of technology, my co-workers and I collaborated in Google Docs and wrote the curriculum for each grade and each skill area ranging from basic computer skills to advanced uses like creating multimedia content. We modeled and adopted teaching strategies and technologies from the curriculum of other school districts that have an elementary technology program already functioning. The process took 10 hours and spanned the two days. This is the Google Doc that our team worked on collaboratively to write the curriculum.
